Open Letter to Supporters – May 2026

Below is an open letter to supporters from New Home Director, Marc Jarrett.

With the season now complete, we want to bring you a clear update on the New Home Project and our proposed site at Slater’s Lodge.

Many supporters have asked why progress has seemed quiet in recent months. The short answer is that the planning process itself has changed.

As part of wider planning reforms, the government has introduced new rules for how Local Plans are produced. In January 2026, North Northamptonshire Council chose to move to a new, faster route known as Option B, this means restarting the plan under this updated system rather than continuing with the previous one.

That decision resets the process, but it also shortens it. The new Local Plan is now expected to be adopted by January 2029, around 11 months earlier than under the old timetable.

This matters because the Local Plan effectively decides where development can happen over the next 20 years. For Slater’s Lodge to become the home of our new community stadium, it must be included within that plan. Without that allocation, gaining planning permission becomes far more difficult.

While the formal process restarts, work has not stopped. We continue to engage with North Northamptonshire Council and our partner, Redington Capital, and remain fully committed to delivering this project.

The updated timeline is as follows:

  • April 2026 – Formal preparation begins
  • May–June 2026 – Public scoping consultation
  • Oct–Nov 2026 – Consultation on proposed content
  • May–July 2027 – Full draft Local Plan consultation
  • January 2029 – Planned adoption

The key moments for our community will come during the consultation stages particularly in October 2026 and May 2027. These are the points where supporters, residents, businesses and local organisations can formally show their support for Slater’s Lodge.

We will make sure everyone knows exactly when and how to get involved.

Until then, your voice still matters. Keep the conversation going, share this message, and help demonstrate the strength of feeling behind this project.
